Traditional Owners
In the spirit of reconciliation, we acknowledge the Gangulu People, part of the Gaangalu Nation, and the Darumbal People as the Traditional Owners of the land on which Boulder Creek Wind Farm sits. We pay our respects to their elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
We are committed to open and transparent engagement, and our people and those who work with us will aim to uphold the principles of respect for culture and Country.
Partnership with the Gangulu People, part of the Gaangalu Nation, and the Darumbal People: Preserving Culture and Country
We recognise the role of the Gangulu People, part of the Gaangalu Nation, and the Darumbal People in the management, protection, and promotion of cultural heritage and awareness on Country, cultural awareness and land access.
Cultural Heritage Investigation Management Agreements (CHIMA) are in place with both Traditional Owner groups and we are working collaboratively with both parties. In addition to Cultural Heritage monitoring, the project has engaged Tunuba, a Darumbal Enterprises business, to work on site as fauna spotter catchers during clearing works to protect local wildlife.
This partnership will continue throughout the construction and operations phases of the project. We aim to minimise harm and manage cultural heritage in a respectful and sensitive manner.
Our vision is for the Boulder Creek Wind Farm and associated infrastructure, once constructed and operational, to be on Country that is in good condition and actively managed to protect the values, and promote the laws, culture and rights of each of the Traditional Owner groups.
